Beyerdynamic DT 480 - 25 ohm (with some mods) This is a review of the Beyerdynamic DT 480, I believe the only other headphone that shares a driver with the DT 48, the original dynamic headphone. A headphone famed for it's transients, lack of grain, and detail but also quite mixed among people.

The DT-48A is sold with semi-stiff round rubber pads that sit on the ears, for audiometry use. In my experience, the DT-48A has essentially no bass with these pads, even if I press them into my ears with about ten pounds of force on each side.

The Beyerdynamic DT 990 PRO and the Beyerdynamic DT 880 PRO are both very good headphones for critical listening, but they have different sound profiles. Both headphones have a bright and clear treble. However, the DT 880 lack bass compared to the DT 990 PRO, which pack a stronger punch. This makes the DT 880 sound brighter compared to the DT.

With music listening it was strange at first, as the left channel is more dominant, though both channels play on both ears simultaneously.

The biggest difference between the DT 700 PRO X and older DT 770 PRO is the impedance. The PRO X is made for portable use with its 48Ω impedance, relative to the DT 770 PRO series' 32Ω, 80Ω, and 250Ω varieties. With not a lot of swivel or articulating joints, this is about as much as the headset will stretch.
